Great for a group excursion or family day out, Kalimba Reptile Park is a popular attraction offering lots of 'scaly' sites and activities including fishing. Nestling in the lush basin of the Ngwerere stream, this is one of the best tourist destinations in Lusaka that offers a fun filled day out for locals as well as international visitors. The reptile park is an extension of Kalimba Farms which specialises primarily in crocodile farming, but also produces top quality free range Pekin ducks, beef products, pork, game meat (seasonal) and fish. Their on-site restaurant services a wide variety of meals and beverages.

Kalimba Reptile Park

Kalimba Reptile Park was officially opened by his Excellency, the President Frederick Chiluba in 1995. The Reptile Park was conceived to be the extension of Kalimba Farm. It was the first crocodile farm in the world to be integrated with aquaculture, duck farming, and cattle in 1985. Kalimba is a family run enterprise predominantly run by women.

Sustainability, conservation and animal welfare 

Sustainability, conservation and animal welfare are very important to us. For example, we have chosen to raise a species of Tilapia (Bream) that is indigenous to Zambia. They live together with the ducks whose natural waste feeds phytoplankton which in turn forms part of the diet of the fish. 

All of our products such as Crocodile meat, top quality free range Pekin duck, Tilapia (Bream), and free range, grass fed beef are farm-reared by us. All our burgers and sausages are all homemade.

The farm is a project that has created much biodiversity in the area, creating a natural habitat for the animals on the farm, but also a sanctuary for many wild animals and birds that come here to seek shelter and food. You will see some of the vast amount of birds that have come to nest around the crocodile and fish ponds.

Kalimba Reptile Park has become a ‘rite of passage’ for many Lusaka school children and is proud to be a centre for education about conservation and reptile protection. We are visited by a large number of children and adults alike, therefore breaking many myths and misconceptions about snakes and reptiles amongst the local population.

<p>Kalimba Beef is sourced from our very own herd of Angoni Cattle. Called Nguni in South Africa these small framed cattle are reputed to have descended from the herd tat trekked to Zambia by Zwangendaba the Ngoni Chief in 1835. His Successor in Zambia was Mpezeni and today his successor Paramount Chief Mpezeni still heads the Ngoni tribe in Eastern Province. Kalimba Farm cattle are used to &#x27;mow&#x27; the grass on the banks of the fishponds where their light frames cause e no damage. Consequently they are entirely free-range and grass-fed year round allowing them to have a distinctive flavour </p><p></p>

Kalimba Reptile Park specialises in free-range Pekin Duck, beef, pork, game meat (seasonal) and the indigenous species of Tilapia (Bream). The ducks are free range from incubation to final product and fish farming is critical for the conservation of Tilapia (Bream) which is under threat in Zambia. Kalimba supplies its high-quality Pekin Duck, beef and fish to restaurants and hotels. Kalimba is also a commercial supplier of parent stock Tilapia.
